How to Choose a CPaaS Provider in India: A Buyer's Checklist
Short answer: Choose a CPaaS provider in India by matching it to the channels you will actually use, checking how it handles DLT and WhatsApp approvals, comparing the all-in monthly cost at your volume, testing the API and support, and asking for delivery data you can verify. Shortlist two or three, run a small paid pilot on real traffic, then decide.
Teleopedia is a CPaaS provider, so treat this as a method, not a ranking. For named comparisons with sources, see the best CPaaS platforms in India and the individual comparison pages linked below. New to the term? Read the CPaaS overview and the glossary.

Checklist: what to ask every provider
| Area | Questions to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Channels | Which of SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, voice and email do you support on one account? | Fewer vendors means fewer contracts and one set of reports |
| India compliance | Who handles DLT entity, header and template registration? Who handles WhatsApp verification? | Approvals are the usual cause of launch delays. See DLT guides below. |
| Pricing | What is the total at my volume, including Meta fees, GST, number rental and platform fees? | Per-message rates alone hide the real cost. See CPaaS pricing. |
| API and docs | Is there a REST API, sandbox, webhooks and code samples? | Your developers need to test before you commit |
| Delivery and reports | Can I see delivery status per message and per channel? | You need proof of what was delivered, not a summary |
| Fallback | Can a failed message move to another channel automatically? | Improves reach without extra code |
| Support | Who do I contact, how fast, and in which hours? | Launch issues happen during approvals |
| Contract | Minimum commitment, validity of credits, exit terms? | Avoid lock-in before you have tested |
| Security | How are API keys, data and access handled? | Customer data passes through the platform |
A simple way to compare
- List your top five use cases, for example OTPs, order updates, reminders, campaigns and support.
- Mark the channel you need for each, and which need a fallback.
- Score each provider 0 to 2 on the checklist above, weighting the rows that matter most to you.
- Ask your top two for a written quote for the same volume and channel mix.
- Run a two-week pilot with real traffic and compare delivery reports.
Types of provider you will meet
- Multi-channel CPaaS: messaging, voice and more on one platform. See Karix, Route Mobile and Kaleyra.
- Bulk SMS services: SMS-led, some with published rates. See Fast2SMS; also compared: MSG91 and Gupshup.
- WhatsApp-first platforms: inbox and marketing built on WhatsApp. See AiSensy, Interakt and Wati.
- Global API platforms: developer-first and multi-country. See Twilio and Infobip.
- Voice and contact-centre platforms: see Exotel.

Choosing a CPaaS provider: questions
What should I look for in a CPaaS provider in India?
The channels you need, help with DLT and WhatsApp approvals, a clear all-in price, a testable API, delivery reports and responsive support.
Is the cheapest per-message rate the best choice?
Not by itself. Total cost includes platform fees, Meta charges, taxes and the cost of failed or delayed delivery.
How many providers should I trial?
Two or three is enough. Run the same traffic through each and compare the delivery reports.
Should I use one provider for all channels?
One provider simplifies reports and billing. Some teams keep a second SMS route as a backup.
Is this a ranking of providers?
No. Teleopedia is a provider, so this is a method. Our comparison pages cite each provider's public pages and the date we read them.
